Parkinson's disease affects movement, balance, sleep, mood and digestion, and it usually changes slowly over years. Research is moving on several fronts at once. This site gathers it by topic.
How to read the evidence labels
Each topic rates the studies it describes. The labels change a little by topic, but they follow the same idea:
A finding that comes from comparing groups of people (an association) is weaker than one tested in a randomized trial. The summaries say which is which.
Where to start
- Newly diagnosed? Start with Exercise & Balance. Exercise has the strongest evidence of anything you can do yourself.
- Having off periods or uneven days? See Medications & Devices.
- Wondering what's next? See Slowing Progression and Cell & Gene Therapy.
